Course Objective

Discuss the relationship between cinema and society; cinema as a tool to describe the characteristics reflective of society and culture.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Film and audience, theories and methods analysing the cinema-society relationship 2   Social contents of the films, contetnt analysis and cultural values a case study: The Changing Profile of the Immigrants in Turkish Cinema" Mid-term exam analysing the cinema-society relationship 3   Ideological approach, understanding ideology of a film, semiotics and their ideological meanings.
