Course Objective

The aim of the lecture is to study main aspects of orientalism and its reflections on literature, and to search the ethical, political and ideological consequences of orientalist perspective.

1   to understand the main claims of orientalism.
2   to compare the different types of orientalism.
3   to recognize the orientalist perspective in literary texts.
4   to analyze the relation between orientalism and ideology.
5   to employ a critical perspective.
