Course Objective

The objective of this course is to make comparative literature students comprehend the iconographical analysis with examples, make them recognize iconographical characteristics of the periods and to show how to use the competence of analysis to written, cultural and visual elements. For this purpose, it will be provided to review the sources through presentations, slides and analysis samples.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To use his/her knowledge about iconology and iconography.
2   To analyze the relationship between literature and iconology.
3   To analyze reflections of Symbolism upon the literary works.
4   To perform iconographic analysis on literary works.
5   To use theoretical perspectives in order to compare the literary works of the East and the West.
