Course Objective

This course aims to study utopianism as a modern tendency, and to explore the relation between the development processes of modernity and the process of utopia as a literary genre.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   to understand the main aspects of utopianism
2   to analyze the relationships of utopia and ideology
3   to recognize the differences among utopia, dystopia and critical utopia
4   to develop their skills of critical reading
5   to employ a theoretical perspective for intertextual comparison
