Course Objective

The importance of water for life, aquatic ecosystems, physical, chemical and biological properties and their interactions with each other to tell; Introduce freshwater and marine organisms, their living areas and a basic knowledge about the environment to create the relationship.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To understand the importance of water for life
2   To knowledge on classification of aquatic ecosystems, in general, physical, chemical and biological properties
3   To learn methods of sampling aquatic environments
4   To knowledge about protection of aquatic ecosystems and transport and collecting of the samples
5   To acquire freshwater, brackish and marine organisms recognition
6   To learn of freshwater, brackish and marine organisms living areas and the relationship of the environment

2 Examination of algae 1 which occur in aquatic environments (Cyanobacteria, Dinophyta, Euglenophyta)
3 Examination of algae 2 which occur in aquatic environments (Heterokontophyta, Rhodophyta
4 Examination of algae 3 which occur in aquatic environments (Chlorophyta)
5 Examination of aquatic ferns distributed in aquatic environments
6 Examination of fresh waters Fanerogamae distributed in fresh waters environments
7 Examination of marine Fanerogamae distributed in marine and brackish environments
8 Midterm exam
9 Aquatic biomes
10 General analysis in hidrobotany
11 Biological events caused by photosynthetic plants
12 Flowering aquatic plants, their anatomy and examination under microscobe
13 Flowering plants of seas, their identification and their examination under microscobe
