Course Objective

The aim of the course is to provide basic and contemporary knowledge in the field of molecular biology and molecular genetics to undergraduate level students.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to define basic concepts about the nature of genetic information
2   To be able to explain structural characteristics of DNA and RNA molecules which mediate coding, storage.
3   To be able to define basic molecular mechanisms of DNA self-replication, recombination and repair.
4   To understand the gene structure and transcriptional control of gene expression in eucaryotes
5   To understand the gene structure and transcriptional control of gene expression in procaryotes
6   To comprehend the position and responsibility of human beings in nature
