Course Objective

By taking this course, students will understand the basic probability and statistical concepts and learn statistical analysis techniques that they can apply in their own area

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Knowledge of basic statistical concepts, to distinguish the differences between types of variables
2   Knowledge of basic probability, knowledge of the definition of random variable
3   Knowledge of creating the frequency distribution table, knowledge of calculating measures of central tendency and measures of variability
4   To distinguish between the cases of homogeneity and relationship, knowledge of basic concepts related with hypothesis testing
5   Knowledge of reading statistical tables, to be able to understand simple linear regression

4 Measures of Central Tendency: Arithmetic Mean, Median and Mode
5 Measures of Variability: Range, Variance, Standard Deviation
6 Probability: Basic Definitions of Probability Concept, Introduction to Probability theory
7 Random Variable, Random Variable and its Functions: Discrete Random Variable and its Functions
8 Midterm exam
9 Continuous Random Variable and its Functions
10 Normal Distribution, Standard Normal Distribution
11 Test of Hypothesis - One Sample Z test Based on Population Mean
12 One Sample t test Based on Population Mean
13 Simple Linear Regression Analysis
14 Chi Square Distribution, Chi Square Tests, Contingency Tables
