Course Objective

This course features prospective teachers should be in a textbook, qualifications required to teach mathematics and geometry textbooks and course books on the criteria against which applications will request an investigation and indicates that selection.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   1. To be able to explain criteria about examining textbooks regarding content area.
2   2. To be able to understand the main structure and the functioning system concerning selection and writing, distribution of books in the Turkish National Education system
3   3. To be able to evaluate textbooks regarding content area accurately.
4   4. To be able to be aware of mathematics textbooks regarding content area.

1 Book and textbook, a general outlook of mathematics education programs, place of the course book (textbook) in the training programmes
2 Textbook and its importance in education, qualifications of the textbook (physical properties, page setting and page-layout), visual materials in textbooks, supplementary course materials
3 Innovations in textbooks, book selection and criteria used in selecting books, works on textbook in the ministry of education
4 Designing textbooks, assesment and evaluation in textbooks
5 Critique of textbooks, false speech and expression examples in textbooks
6 Inspection methods and criteria for various textbook
7 Textbook analysis (case study)
8 Midterm
9 Examining mathematics textbook for Grade 9.
10 Examining mathematics textbook for Grade 10.
11 Examining science college mathematics textbook for Grade 9 and 10.
12 Examining mathematics textbook for Grade 11.
13 Examining mathematics textbook for Grade 12.
14 Examining science college mathematics textbook for Grade 11 and 12.
