Course Objective

The concepts of 'child' and 'childhood' as social fiction, factors that prevent children's rights and realization, children's image in the media, media's effects on children, children's participation in the media, guiding principles in working with children and ethical principles related to children and the media.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   1. Be able to critically read media products on the basis of children's rights
2   2. Be able to diagnose patterns of punishment for children in the media
3   3. Be able to see the problems associated with child-directed influences in media.
4   4. Identify ways children participate in the media and diagnose current problems
5   5. Be able to explain the effect of media in the development of preschool child
