Course Objective

The aim of this course is to provide information about basic concepts and institutions of labour law.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To learn basic concepts of labor law; like the establishment, implementation and termination of employment relationship.
2   To determine problems arising from application of labor law.
3   To prevent and to solve the problems which may occur from the application of labor law.

Course Contents

Week Subject Description
1 Scope and the basic concepts of the Labor Law
2 Employee, employer, employers' representative, sub-contractor; establishment
3 Declaring the establishment; certificate and license to operate; the transfer of the establishment and one of its sections
4 Employment relationship; types and conditions of employment contract
5 Employment contracts in continual and transitory work; contracts for a definite (fixed-term) and for an indefinite (open-ended) term
6 Part time and full time employment contracts; temporary employment relationship; employment contract with a trial (probation) clause; call on work, gang contracts.
7 Termination of contracts; the legal consequences of termination.
8 Termination of contract with a valid reason; breaking the contracts for just cause by the employee and employer.
9 Organization of work: Working time and breaks; holiday and leaves
10 Wages
11 Health and safety at work
12 Supervision and inspection of working conditions; competent authorities and officials.
