Course Objective

This course aims to introduce main principles and issues of law of nationality and law of foreigners.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   demonstrate understanding of the relevant Codes in order to examine the selected legal topics of nationality and foreigners.
2   be able to follow the current changes in the field in order to examine the selected topics.
3   be able to use the relevant Codes in order to solve legal problems.
4   be able to acquire the communication skills to explain legal issues.

1 Introduction to law of nationality
2 Introduction to law of nationality, concept, relation to other branches of law, sources, nationality in international law
3 General principles relating to law of nationality; dual nationality or multiple nationality
4 Acquisition of Turkish Nationality
5 Loss of Turkish Nationality
6 Introduction to law of foreigners, general principles relating to foreigners
7 The terms of migrant, refugee, asylum seeker, stateless
8 The rights of entry; residence and travel of foreigners in Turkey
9 Expulsion of foreigners
10 Foreigners' right to work in Turkey
11 Acquisition of immovable property by foreigners in Turkey
12 Foreign investments in Turkey
