Course Objective

This course aims to introduce main principles, issues and rules of Turkish Civil Law.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   demonstrate understanding of the basic concepts of civil law in order to examine Turkish Civil Code 2   be able to identify the main articles of Turkish Civil Code in order to explain core legal issues 3   be able to use the relevant Code in order to solve legal problems 4   be able to acquire the communication skills to explain legal issues

Week Subject Description 1 Introduction, concept, importance, branches of civil law, sources 2 Preliminary Provisions of Turkish Civil Code 3 Law of Persons (kinds of persons, real persons, personality, capacity, protection of personality) 4 Law of persons (kinship, domicile, name and protection of name) 5 Law of persons (legal persons, associations, foundations) 6 Family Law (engagement, marriage) 7 Family Law (general provision of marriage, matrimonial property regimes) 8 Family Law (divorce) 9 Family Law (affinity, guardianship) 10 Law of inheritance (basic concepts) 11 Law of property (possession, land registry) 12 Law of property (ownership, real rights)
