Course Objective

After analyzing different political economy approaches within International Political Economy literature in European studies, this course covers the regulation of trade, finance, social policy and labour at the European level. At the second part of the module, the emphasis shifts to examine different trajectories of political economic development in European countries to familiarize students with different models of state-capital and labour relations in European countries.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Students will show a comprehensive understanding of the main economic and political developments of the European integration process
2   Students will demonstrate knowledge on the different trajectories of state-society relations among Western, Eastern and Southern counties of Europe in a comparative perspective
3   Students will demonstrate understanding about the changes stimulated from regional/global level to national level and vice versa in terms of economic and political dynamics
4   Students will develop their analytical and writing skills through preparing a term project
5   Students will develop their skills to discuss through actively participating to class discussions
