Course Objective

The housing culture of Anatolia has been shaped by different factors such as geographical inputs, social expectations, knowledge and experiences of ancient civilizations. In this framework, this course concentrates on the conceptual, spatial and visual formation of the traditional Anatolian house besides the social and environmental factors shaping the main architectural characters of different regions. Within the analyses on the different residential districts of different regions, the architectural characters of the districts are to be defined and the effects of the environmental, social and cultural inputs are to be questioned.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Defining the evaluation process of the housing culture of Anatolia.
2   Telling the principles of traditional settlements.
3   Questioning the effects of the cultural factors on the evaluation of the housing culture.
4   Questioning the effects of the local identities on the evaluation of the housing culture.
5   Questioning the architectural and urban characters of different regions.
