Course Objective |
This course is intended for graduates with an interest in design of ships or offshore structures. It requires a sufficient background in structural mechanics. Computer applications are utilized with emphasis on the theory underlying the analysis. Hydrostatic loading, shear load and bending moment, and resulting primary hull stresses will be developed. Topics will include: ship structural design concepts, effect of superstructures and dissimilar materials on primary strength, transverse shear stresses in the hull girder, and torsional strength among others. |

Assessment will be based on BNS system of DEU. Assessment of the assignment will be executed by the correctness of the findings. |

Attendance: Students are required to attend every class. Attendance will be taken at the beginning of the class. Plagiarism: Plagiarism will be reported to Academic Judiciary Board and can result in getting zero on the assignment / exams and failing the course. Late assignment: All assignments are due at the beginning of the class. The extentions will not be granted. Accommodations: Students are required to let the instructor know any special accommodation needed due to learning disabilities, medical needs, etc. |
