Course Objective

ARC5003 Building Systems Research and Design I as prerequisites of this course. The individual research on contemporary building system produced in ARC 5003, is carried in a project. Graduate students are going to improve their implementations detailed design abilities. Each student will work on all aspects of structural and constructional systems contemporary issues throughout their particular research topic.

1   Recognizing the effects of technological developments to architecture.
2   Analyzing the reflections and important effects of technological developments on building design and construction.
3   Analyzing the relationship among structure, material, and technology in buildings.
4   Being capable of monitoring technological developments and having skills to analyze buildings in the construction industry.
5   Analyzing and designing the structural systems.
6   Planning and designing application project according to comtemporary building technologies.
7   Designing the details of application project.

Course Policies and Rules

This course is relying on group research assignment and individual research project. After 3th week of the program each student prepares a building project which includes contemporary structural and construction systems according to their research subject. In this course, their designs and application projects and details are criticized. They work separately but all members of the class take part and must present their projects in the weekly discussion sessions. Each student submits their project end of the term.
