Course Objective

Enable students to learn, internalize, sight sing (play at first sight) and interpret orchestral works; while having the students practice these works, develop their knowledge, skills and musicianship, thus increase their professional performance as opera and symphony orchestra members.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Birçok orkestra eserinden seçilmiş kesitleri tek başına çalabilmesi,
2   Kesitin temposuna, nüanslarına, ritmik özelliklerine, arızalarına, karakterine, artikülasyonuna, ses kalitesine ve entonasyonuna dikkat etmesi,
3   Kesitin teknik ve müzikal özelliklerini göstermesi,
4   Orkestra repertuvarı dersinden önce karşılaşmamış olduğu eserlerin belli başlı ya da önemli diyebileceğimiz kesitlerini deşifre okuyabilmesi,
5   Orkestra eserlerinin partilerinden seçilmiş kesitleri diğer çalgılarla beraber çalabilmesi,
6   Beraber çaldığı enstrümanların artikülasyonuna, ses kalitesine ve entonasyonuna uyum sağlayabilmesi,
7   Eseri, dönemin tarihsel ve stilistik özellikleriyle ilişkilendirebilmesi,
8   Birlikte çalmanın dinleme, eş zamanlı çalma, denge ve uyum gibi özelliklerine dikkat etmesi,
9   Çalışılan eserler hakkında, varsa daha önce yapılmış yazılı çalışmalara ulaşıp, bu eserleri sözlü anlatımla sınıf arkadaşlarına sunabilmesi,

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

Technical, intonation, sonic, musical, historical and stylistic interpretation of orchestral works; individual and collective performance application and the tutti or solo presentation of these works.

EXAMS: A student will earn 80% of his/her grade through attendance and in class performance; and 20% through report preparation and presentation.

Assessment Criteria

The assessment aims at evaluating whether or not a student has achieved theoretical and applied proficiency as described in Learning Outcomes.

70% attendance is mandatory.
No excuse for unfinished homework assignments will be accepted except for health issues.
