Course Objective

It is aimed for students to learn over the current situation of the international trade system and World Trade Organization.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to evaluate the current situation of the world trade system.
2   To be able to evaluate the applications of trade policy tools today.
3   To be able to learn the aim of the WTO and its operations.
4   To be able to evaluate the binding effect of the WTO on Turkey's foreign trade.
5   To be able to learn WTO, multilateral trade agreements and sectoral exceptions.

5 Trade Policy, Trade Policy Tools: Tariffs/Nontariff Measurements
6 Main aim of the World Trade Organization, A Historical View : From GATT to WTO
7 Main aims GATT/WTO: Protectionism Mechanisms of the WTO
8 Dispute Settlement Mechanism of WTO
9 WTO (Midterm exam will be held in this week except the course hour)
10 Multilateral Trade Agreement: GATT
11 Multilateral Trade Agreement: GATS, TRIPS
12 Sectoral Regulations: Agricultural Products, Textile and Clothing
