Course Objective

The main purpose of this course is to discuss EU s legal structure and its trade and investment policies. Understanding the legal framework of decision-making mechanism and the institutional structure of EU has become an important issue after the Lisbon Treaty was signed. For this purpose, EU and WTO will be analysed with particular reference to the responsibilities of their member states. Also, the settlements of the disputes regarding trade and investment law will be referred.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

2   To understand the role of EU institutions in establishing trade policies,
3   Be able to evaluate new trade policies of the EU,
4   Be able to evaluate EU-WTO relations,
5   To evaluate and analyse the role of EU in multilateral trade system.
