Course Objective

In this course students are expected to have sufficient knowledge on the fundamental theories regarding political parties, the evolution process of political parties in Europe, working principles of political party groups in European Parliament and their political stance in the EU.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To have academic knowledge on the fundamental theories regarding the political parties,
2   To have sufficient knowledge on the evolution of the political parties in Europe,
3   To gain an understanding on the structure of the European Parliament (EP) and evaluate its place in the balance of powers,
4   To understand and evaluate the EP s impact on EU policies,
5   To evaluate the role of the EP and political parties in legitimacy problem
6   To evaluate and analyse the developments in the policies of the EU
