Course Objective

The main purpose of this course is to express aims of competition policy regarding European integration besides economic aims. It enables learners to understand competition legislation which were arranged under the competition policy. It gives knowledge on cartel agreements, abuse of dominant position and mergers /acquisitions and related cases.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Apprehend the EU Competition Policy and its contribution to European integration
2   Have sufficient knowledge on economic theories under the EU competition policy
3   Have sufficient knowledge on legislation adopted according to competition policy and implemented based on economic theories,
4   Apprehend basic concepts of competition law
5   Apprehend and evaluate the decisions of the Commission and ECJ on competition cases

1. The learner will be fully prepared to discuss reading assignments.
2. The learner will clearly understand the role of legal system in integration process.
3. The learner will demonstrate sufficient knowledge on do s and Don ts of an undertaking.

1. Plagiarism of any type will result in disciplinary action.
2. Attending at least 70 percent of lectures is mandatory.
3. All assignments should be submitted on time. Otherwise will not be accepted.
