Course Objective

Aim of the course is to examine throughly the crimes regulated under the title "Crimes Against Persons" which constitutes the second chapter of the Turkish Penal Code.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   General evaluation of "Crimes against Persons" chapter of the Turkish Penal Code 2   Be able to discuss various elements of the crimes against persons 3   Be able to comment about crime types 4   Be able to learn and discuss penalties prescribed for crimes against persons 5   Be able to learn aggrieved and decreased forms of crimes 6   Be able to evaluate High Court case law and desicions of the European Court of HUman Rights

Week Subject Description 1 General evaluation of "Crimes against Persons" chapter of the Turkish Penal Code. 2 Voluntary manslaughter (Felonious Homicide) and Qualified form of felonious homicide 3 Felonious homicide due to failure to act 4 Inducement to Suicide and its differences from similar crimes 5 Negligent homicide and the concept of "negligence" 6 Felonious injury , qualified form, and Consequential Heavy Injury 7 Negligent injury 8 Use of human for experimental purposes 9 Trading of organs and tissues 10 Torture and Torment 11 Breach of Protection, Observation, Assistance and Notification Liability 12 Causing Abortion, Abortion and Sterilization
