Course Objective

The aim of this course is to introduce students with various text analysis models to use for translation preparation and translation criticism and enable them to gain translation competence. The course is both theory and practice oriented. Through the course, text-type oriented, pragmatic, polysystemic and functional approaches about text analysis will be handled, the analysis methods and appropriate translation methods will be practiced on selected texts.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Students can explain the text types.
2   Students can learn the importance of text analysis in translation studies.
3   Students can use the appropriate analysis model for text types.
4   Students cananalyse the texts in an integrated approach that includes linguistic and non-linguistic, textual and non-textual references.
5   Students can take proper decisions in the translation process and show creativity in translation and criticism competence
