Course Objective

This course gives students opportunity to analyse translation through the perspectives of other disciplines such as cultural studies, sociology, semiotics, media studies, philosophy, history, and politics. Interdisciplinary and cross methodological approaches along with traditional translation theories and models are questioned and redefined.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Students understand the relationship between scientific autonomy and interdisciplinarity.
2   Students develop awareness for interdisciplinary nature of translation.
3   Students evaluate the relationship between translation and other disciplines from the viewpoint of interdisciplinarity
4   Students can evaluate and discuss translation problems from the viewpoint of other disciplines.
5   Students can use the theoretical, historical, and critical information and skills acquired from various disciplines in translation training.
