Course Objective

To introduce primary philosophers and schools in the history of Islamic thought, to inform the students development of science during the and main concepts and create a philosophical basis for the this branch.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Gets knowledge about terminology and concept of "Science"
2   Gets knowledge about Scientific activities in the Islamic world
3   Gets knowledge about important scientists in the Islamic world and also the importance of science and scientific point of view
4   Learns the technology used in the Islamic world
5   Gains a unique point of view in the light of scientific developments in Islamic civilization

1 The definition of science, philosophy of science is the subject of the Positive stored qualifications, philosophy of science relationship, and value of knowledge resources, the concept of culture and civilization
2 Historical development of science, Sumer, Mesopotamia and Egypt in the History of science, Science in China and India
3 Islam in the World of Science: Science in Quran and Hadith, establishment of: Beyt'ül Hikme and Bimarhane
4 Branches of Islam in the World of Science: Astronomy, Mathematics, Medicine, Chemistry, Physics, Geography
5 Prominent Scientists in Islamic civilization : Jabir b. Hayyan, Harezmi, Ibn Turk, al-Kindi, Fergani
6 Prominent Scientists in Islamic civilization: Sabit b. Kura, Battani, Rhazes, al-Farabi
7 Avicenna
