Course Objective

To gain the students those who have to write an MA thesis and to make academic studies in the discipline of Islamic History;
- knowledge on Islam s and Muslims understanding of history;
- the concepts and factors affecting the emergence and development process of History in Islamic civilization and among Muslim historians;
- knowledge about the historiography types and forms developed by Muslim historians;
- the ability of using and recognizing the prominent sources written and the historians wrote on Islamic history.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   At the end of the semester, the students will; have knowledge on the Quranic perspective to History.
2   learn how historiography emerged among Muslims.
3   experience the methods of historiography on the existed sources.
4   recognize the types of historical sources written by Muslim historians.
5   gain ability of using the sources such as Seerah, Maghazi, Tabaqat and biography of Islamic history and general history, regional history, and dynasty history by learning methodology of these sources.
