To present a methodical, theoretical and organizational perspective about political parties as organizational form.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To form conceptual framework of political parties in general.
2   To present research methods of political parties.
3   To present institutions that emerged at the point of political parties researches comparatively.
4   To analyze organizational structure of political parties.
5   To evaluate duties of political parties.

3 Classical theories in the researches of political parties. Ostrogorski, Michels, Weber, Duverger.
4 Otto Kirchemeir, Jean Charlot and nebulizing of political ideology.
5 Rokan, Lipset, Seiler: Social conflicts and parties.
6 Bourdieu, Offerlé: Structural and relational theories in political parties.
7 Midterm
8 Typology of Political Parties
9 Typology of Political Parties
10 Leadership in political parties.
11 Sources of political parties: 1) Human resources. Membership in political parties.
12 Sources of political parties: 2) Economic resources. Finance of political parties.
13 Political parties as an election instrument.
