Course Objective

To explain the basic concepts of measurement and assessment in psychiatry and introduce students to the scales used in psychiatry.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Learning the definition and measurement of psychopathology
2   Learning the types and features of the assessment tools used in psychiatry. Having knowledge about their uses.
3   Learning the scales used for assessing extrapyramidal symptoms of schizophrenia and having knowledge about the uses of Yale Brown Obsessive Compulsive Scale and Life Quality Scale.
4   Learning the ways of validiting the reliability of the scales
5   Being able to develop a new scale to use in psychiatry.
