Course Objective

The main purpose of the course is that to examine decision making process and different decison making methods. The subjects of the course are basic concepts related to the decision-making process, which can be used in decision making diagrams, decision making under uncertainty and risk, decision tree, Bayesian decision-making process, utility theory, decision-making use of some probability distributions, Monte-Carlo simulation of decision making under risk relationship, Markov chains decision-making, Electre, Topsis and AHP will be discussed with the multi-criteria decision-making. In this context, the students will learn data organization, presentation, analysis, interpretation and problem solving topics in this course.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Decision-makers, decision environment, decision process and the decision subjects will be learned.
2   Cause, result and-effect diagrams can be used.
3   Criterias for decision making under uncertainty and risk are learned and applied.
4   Simple and sequential decision making problems can be solved via decision tree.
5   With utility theory, the benefits of the options and / or strategies can be identified.
6   Be able to use some of the probability distributions in decision making.
7   Monte-Carlo simulation for MS Excel can be used for simple problems.
8   Be able to give decisions using Markov analysis.
9   Proporties of multi-criteria decision making problems, Electre features, Topsis, AHP techniques will be learned.
