Course Objective

Following the basic knowledge related to destination management and marketing, this course aims to examine the issues such as examples and workshops about international tourism market, stakeholder management in destinations, strategic management, destination management and marketing organizations and collaborations in destination management.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to classify destination products and examine the role of them in destination system.
2   To be able to describe the framework of destination management and marketing and evaluate strategic proposals regarding problems encountered in practice
3   To be able to analyze tourism resource analysis and provide solutions in tourism planning.
4   To be able to prepare strategic marketing planning for tourism destinations by evaluating contemporary tourism marketing strategies.
5   To be able to identify appropriate marketing strategies and develop competitive strategies suited to visitors demands, needs and expectations.

Further Notes About Assessment Methods

To be able to succeed in this course, students need to partiicipate and take an active role in discussions. Presentation skills of students and the compliance of presentation reports with the content and aim of the course will be based on the assessment.

Assessment Criteria

1- The knowledge of students' about destination management will be based on the assessment of mid-term and final exams, but also students will be asked to evaluate and discuss the related issues within the frame of both theoretical knowledge and current cases.
2- Assignment work aims to prepare students to carry out scientific studies. Therefore, the compliance of assignments with the scientific writing rules will be considered.
3- Class discussions and presentations aim students' being developed both in the presentation skills and discussion skills about scientific topics.

1. It is obligatory to attend at least 70% of the classes.
2. Violations of Plagiarism of any kind will result in disciplinary steps being taken.
3. Reports should be submitted prior to presentations and shared with the rest of the class.
