Course Objective

The objective of this course is to evaluate the relationship between tourism businesses and environment, efforts of environmental protection, tourism investments compatible with environment, and the impact of tourism on environment.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to grasp the concepts related to environment and tourism.
2   To be able to evaluate global tourism movements and their interaction with environment.
3   To be able to discuus the contribution of natural environment to tourism demand.
4   To be able to analyze positive and negative effects of tourism sector on environment.
5   To be able to evaluate about the importance of environment on future tourism investments.

Assessment Criteria

1. Students will take advantage of the existing studies in scientific literature about environmental management in tourism within the scope of this course.
2. Students are obliged to prepare a project intended to tourism and environment relation.
3. Students are expected to make comments about case studies related to the course and tourism sector. Besides, students are aimed to bring solutions to the structural problems of tourism sector.

1. It is obligatory to attend at least 70% of the classes.
