Course Objective

It is one of the important achievements for theology that to understand the `sufî interpretation of Tafsir which has great attribution in history of tafsir. Student will have wise point of view when they will have learned the instinctual tafsir which is more independent that Dirayah and Riwayah tafsir. They will have been tried to comparing with practical life by knowing sufi s interpretations whose lives are wiser in active life. They will understand the verses of the Quran by getting advantage of closeness between philosophy and Sufism. They will be learned other meanings from literal one except those that are not contrary with them. They will learn some Sufi interpreters of the Quran, their methods, principles, and varies of them in modern life.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To teach and lecture the sufî interpretation from the early times.
2   To teach main principles of the interpretation of Sufism and their understandings and evaluating.
3   To have the ability to analyze some issues and their solutions in interpretation of the Quran in the beginning period of Sufism.
4   To gain some principles of modern ways in understanding and interpretation of some traditions in history for the interpretation of the Quran.
5   To give awareness to students for differentiate the methods and contents in Tafsirs of Sufism with other tafsirs.
6   To gain the ability in seeing the difference and comparing Sufism s Tafsirs with classical tafsirs as methods and contents.
7   They will have the ability to compare the sufism s tafsirs as modern one and classical one.

1 The meaning of the term Sufi Tafsir and Sufism.
2 The reasons and causes that emerges the Sufi tafsir.
3 Some example of early period of Sufi Tafsir.
4 The founders of the School and methods and aims.
5 The cultural sources of the School.
6 The problem of acceptance in Isharî Tafsir.
7 The positive and negative sides of Ishari Tafsir School.
8 Systemization of Ishari Tafsir.
9 The development period of Ishari Tafsir and important scholars.
10 Ibn- Al-Arabi and his attribution to Ishari Tafsir.
11 Ishari Tafsir in Ottoman period.
12 Modern Ishari Tafsir.
13 Interpretation problems in Sufi Tafsir.
14 Evaluating the assignments.
