Course Objective

To provide to understand and evaluate Islamic belief sytem. To have deeply information about two major theological schools of Ahl al-Sunnah, in their literature and present thoughts.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   The students, will have information about the position of Maturidism and Asharite in Islamic cultur.
2   will have information on the important scholars of Maturidism and Asharite.
3   will have information on the forms of understanding and interpretation of religion in Maturidism and Asharite.
4   will evaluate the disagreements between these two schools and the other sects.
5   will have information about the contrubution of Mâturidism and Asharite to the Kalam in the history.

Further Notes About Assessment Methods

Midterm and Final Exam:
In Mid-term and final exam, the students are asked questions in classical style about the resources, the schools, the scholars of the History of Islamic Theology and literature and their salient features.

Homework:
The student prepares a composition about the resources, the schools, the scholars of the History of Islamic Theology, and then presents this composition in printed output.

Assessment Criteria

The students will be assessed based on success in their mid-term, homework assignment and final exams along with their performance during the classes throughout the semester.
