Course Objective

To examine religion and thought in Ottoman Empire in the light of cultural, political and social circumstances and to learn the contribution of religious and thinking tradition to Ottoman cultural, political and social life.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Learns religion-thinking-politics relation in Ottoman Empire
2   Learns the background of movements of religion and scholarship
3   Learns the contribution of movements of religion and scholarship to cultural,social and political life.
4   Learns the influence of movements of religion and scholarship on Islamic history and present day.
5   Gains the skills to know, use and criticize the sources related to Ottoman Empire
