Course Objective

To enable students to gain critical acquisition and perspective about the emergence of Islamic civilization and its status in and effects to World history

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Student, at the end of the semester, will; be able to question scientific value of Islamic Civilization by analyzing it under the light of culture and civilization
2   be able to state how Quran and Sunna played a role in the formation of Islamic civilization by taking into account the understanding of Quran and Sunna for existence and world view and their attitudes to science and culture
3   get knowledge on the steps of the formation of Islamic civilization parallel to Islamic history and also determine the effects of former classical cultures and civilizations to the development of Islamic civilization
4   learn the contributions of Islamic civilization to the world in terms of philosophy, science, technology, arts, and also in the area of state, politics, social life and institutions
5   figure out and evaluate how different dimensions of Islamic civilization transferred to Europe and how affected the Western Civilization under the light of sources
6   discuss the problematic of the decline of Islamic civilization and quest the scientific value of the thesis about the problem
