Course Objective

The objective of this course is to have the students know about the history, functions, production and consumption processes, etc. of the media and define how such information is used in daily language and what kind of changes it gives way to and analyse samle media texts and thus gain awareness on the hidden ideology in media texts, its effects on the society and manupilating effect of the media.

2   2 Explaining the relationship between the media and ideology and its specific features
3   3 Conducting research on languge use in the media
4   4 Criticizing languge use in the media
5   5 Relating media with the society and culture and explaining this relationship
6   6 Researching the explict and/or implicit ideology in media texts and writing a research article on it.
