Course Objective

This course provides a graduate level introduction to industrial organization. The course covers theoretical and empirical work on industrial organization, with a focus on learning the main empirical methods used in industrial organization.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Demonstrate understanding of causes and consequences of firms' strategic behavior.
2   Define pricing, product design, advertising, innovation, barriers to entry, collusion and mergers.
3   Understand the impact of firms' and industry's actions on welfare.
4   Integrate theoretical models and empirical studies on industrial performance.
