Course Objective

The aim of this course to gain knowledge about the terms of security and related international regulations and up-to-date risk factors in maritime sector, to understand importance of security for the ship, port and ship management company, to increase a knowledge level for research and scientific analysis related with the security

1   To gain information about the terms of security in maritime sector and to define the risks
2   To develop proposal for solution and to gain skills to fulfill the regulations
3   To create a suitable secure system with detection of the deficiency of the regulations
4   To be equipped with enough knowledge, skills and attitude for team works
5   To obtain safety rules and security skills

1 Definitions and the terms of security, international regulations and determination of course research subjects
2 Terrorism, History of terrorism, possible attack methods, the principles of security, physical security equipment
3 ISPS Code and Responsibilities of the parties
4 Precaution of stowaway and asylum seekers, to detect of the possible attacker, security reports and records
5 Analysis of the scientific research about the security management, ship and port control methods and suitability, piracy, reported piracy case in IMO
6 Preparation and control of the SSA
7 MIDTERM
8 Equipments for security, ship search plan
9 Port facility security and port operations
10 Port facility security and assessment of port facility security plan, port facility security officer
11 Port facility security and organizations
12 Security management; documentation, monitoring, control and report of the deficiencies
13 Security management; training needs and traning methods
14 Analysis of the scientific papers about the importance of ship and port facility security management
