Course Objective

The objective of this course is to make PhD students aware of and make them follow the disciplinary and inter-disciplinary debates that take place within the IR theory, which are constantly in change and development.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be familiar with especially the latest debates in mainstream and critical theories in IR discpline. (knowledge)
2   To realize that those debates are not only theory-based but also influence or get influenced by developments in world politics. (knowledge)
3   To be able to establish a relationship between the the diversity in theoretical debates and the various ontological and epistemological approaches in IR. (knowledge)
4   To be able to make critical and reasoned argument. (Intellectual)
5   To be able to make power-point presentations in class-room. (professional)
6   To be able to engage in academic discussions with the rest of co-learners as well as the lecturer. (professional)
7   To be able to get access independently to the relevant IR academic material. (transferable)

Learners:

2. Will be able to relate those debates to the developments in world politics.

4. Will use IT knowledge to prepare power-point presentations.
5. Will be able to express views in a clear, precise and self-confident manner.
6. Will be able to make critical and reasoned argument.
7. Will use library and internet sources.
