Course Objective

This course aims to provide an in depth view of the academic debates concerning the classic and contemporary issues related to the developing world. Topics that will be covered include the varying definitions of "development," the relationship between politics and development, security and development and globalization and development.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To gain an in-depth understanding of the political, economic, and social history of the developing world. 2   To analyze the current problems and issues facing the developing countries and their people. 3   To gain an in-depth understanding of the political culture and practices in the developing world. 4   To get a better sense of the role that the developing countries play in contemporary world politics and economy.
