Course Objective

The objective of this course is to help students understand and evaluate the role and importance of financial institutions and markets in the business environment. The course will give the student the opportunity to see the applications of principles of finance and economics through the functioning of and interactions among the financial institutions and markets.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Describe the types of financial institutions and markets thoroughly.
2   Understand the functioning of each of the financial institution and market in depth.
3   Explain the relationships between and among different financial institutions and markets.
4   Evaluate the effects of financial institutions and markets on the business environment.
5   Develop the abilities to think critically and construct arguments, and to communicate those arguments effectively related to financial institutions and markets.

3- The students will examine various real-life cases related to financial institutions and markets.
4- The students will understand the role of ethics and corporate governance in the management of financial institutions.
5- The students will conduct researches related to financial institutions and markets and will also comment on existing researches.
