Course Objective

The course aims to guide PhD students through stages of research, from forming the research question, reading, researching, writing and publishing. The course is This class is designed to teach students the tools they need to konw to be successful researchers in economics, including the stages of research process and writing.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Confidently conceive, formulate and motivate a research project, from the research questions to the choice of data analysis approaches.
2   Show understanding of major research methods and make use, and interpret the results of quantitative research techniques.
3   Critically analyze a scientific research in social sciences.
4   Identify and conduct the appropriate techniques for different kinds of research questions using specific programs.
5   Learn critical reading.
6   Show ability write cholarly papers.
7   Participate in class discussions with colleagues.
8   Value a willingness to work independently.
