Course Objective

The main purpose of this course is to focus on the role of European Union in the international trade system, with particular reference to EU trade policies and regimes at both multilateral and bilateral contexts. For this purpose, in the first place EU s position in WTO rounds will be focused on, with particular respect to the ongoing Doha round. Then EU s bilateral trade schemes and regimes will be analysed.

1   Have sufficient knowledge on the role of EU in international trade sysem, both at multilateral and bilateral contexts.
2   have sufficient knowledge on the EU s internal and external trade policies.
3   demonstrate sufficient knowledge on the major points of dispute in the world trade system.

Assessment Criteria

1. The learner will be fully prepared to discuss reading assignments and cases.
2. The learner will clearly describe the nature and scope of european integration with particular reference to its role in international trade system.
3. The learner will demonstrate sufficient knowledge on EU s participation in multilateral trade schemes and its bilateral trade relations.
4. The learner will demonstrate sufficient understanding on the major moot points in the world trade system.
