Course Objective

To enable the student to show that he / she can carry out an independent piece of research on a theme in a scientifically sound manner and to demonstrate his/her ability to address a specific problem in a scientifically sound, ethical, thorough and precise manner in the course of a given period of time, and to help the student to communicate his or her findings convincingly.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Encourages and contribute to developing new knowledge and skills diverse aspect and innovative approaches in shipping which is a multidisciplinary industry.
2   Uses a systematic approach in evaluating and using new knowledge in sea transport issues.
3   In close contact with recent developments in shipping, gets able to create new approaches, methods, designs and/or practice or in different field; makes research on, designs, or interprete new original subjects; develops and improves life-long learning and individual improvement princibles.
4   With advanced knowledge and abilities advanced enough to analys/aynthesize shipping related developments, get able to develop new outlooks and methods, using such processes as creative and critical thought, problem solving and strategic decision making, and gets involved in functional intereffectiviness.
5   In close pursuit of the recent scientific technological social and cultural developments through a critical thinking approach, gets able to discuss, evaluate such developments and protects change when needed his/her innovative outlooks; establish effective interrelativeness and act as a leader.
6   Contributes at an advanced level to quality management systems practices, safety management techniques, establishing and enhancing safety culture.
