Course Objective

It is to examine the origin of inequality in societies with a historical view and it is also aimed to apprehend the mobility of people between different social classes.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   explain the main theories and concepts regarding social stratification and mobility
2   apprehend different social stratification models.
3   explain the foundations of social, economic and political inequalities
4   understand and explain social classes and the conflicts between them
5   analyze the contradictory theories on strata and class
6   apprehend the role of categories such as gender, race and religion within social stratification
