Course Objective

In this course research in organizational behavior (OB) and in social psychology as related to understanding behavior in organizations will be examined with both a theoretical and a methodological emphasis. The ultimate objective of the course is to enable students engage in independent OB research where they formulate meaningful research questions and develop research plans at a publishable scientific quality.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   have a general knowledge of the research literature, theories and research methods in organizational behavior.
2   be able to critically evaluate theoretical and methodological aspects of existing literature
3   identify meaningful research questions and strategies to do independent research in organizational behavior that will ultimately lead to scientific publications.
4   Develop skills for oral/written communication of scientific arguments ; become familiar with the scientific publication write-up and submission process in organizational behavior

Assessment Criteria

1. Learners will be able to write reflection papers that critically evaluate theoretical and methodological aspects of readings assigned each week.
2. They will identify a research question and write up a research proposal as their term project. The proposal must clearly explain importance and contribution of the proposed research and a detailed, step by step plan that delineates how the research would be conducted
3. Learners will discuss and present scholarly ideas, theories, and methods in a clear and an analytical way.
