Course Objective

This course is about women travel writers who wrote exclusively about Turkey. It aims to contribute to the understanding of a certain period of time in Turkish history by dealing with the works of women travel writers. The concentration of the course is on the representation of the Turkish women.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To have knowledge about women travel writers.
2   To have a basic knowledge of some travel writing and gender based concepts
3   To be competent in textual analysis.
4   To be capable of using course s terminology.
5   To have a basic knowledge of theoretical approaches used in travel writing and to evaluate the differences between texts written by men and women.
