Course Objective

This course aims to introduce scientific research methods and develop students knowledge and habits regarding scholarly studies, illustrating examples. Approaches, the problems of methodology and practice in a study and presentation types will be analyzed. The following topics will be discussed: What do science, scientific research mean How is scientific research conducted What are language and literature sources How is a library made use of How is a research paper prepared

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

The course materials suggested for students come from two different sources. The first group of sources include academic books. Students are expected to skim and scan them before they come to class. The translations are grouped, evaluated and criticised in the light of the recently gained knowledge. Students prepare individual responses and presentations and come to class ready to present them at this stage.
