Course Objective

To analyze new types of prose developed in the 19th century Turkish literature.

1   1-Learn characterics of the Tanzimat era and the theories of new developed narrative types. 2   2-Learn characterics of new developed narrative types (article,, theatre,newspaper etc. ) in the Tanzimat era. 3   3-Learn the elements of narrative types and their theoric definitions

Week Subject Description 1 Introduction 2 Analysis of the Tanzimat rescript and Islahat rescript 3 Characterics of the new developed narratives ( newspaper, theatre, article, novel, story etc.) in the Tanzimat era. 4 Şinasi's articles and his views about narrative types. 5 Namık Kemal's articles and his views about language and literature 6 Namık Kemal's view about theatre and Preface of Celaleddin Harzemşah. 7 Ziya Paşa, Şiir ve Inşa article: Discussions. 8 Ahmet Midhat Efendi's views about language and literature 9 Recaizade M.
