Course Objective

To give a robust understanding of the molecular genetic basis of human diseases and explain the state of the art.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   to explain the molecular basis of heredity
2   to describe the structural and functional organization of the human genome
3   to discuss the processes that play role in regulation of gene expression
4   to recognise the genetic differences between individuals of a population, as well as among different populations
5   to compare and contrast the contemporary methods used in genetic testing
6   to discuss the principles and methods of personalized medicine approaches
7   to present research findings in an effective way
